The Denver, Greeley and Tahoe HO Modular Railway has won over 40 state, regional and national awards in competition against other modular model railroads coming from across the United States and Canada.

Among the top honors earned are:

•  First Place at the 2005 National Model Railroad Association contest in Seattle, WA, for best Modular Model Railroad. This award effectively retires the DG&T from future NMRA state, regional or national contests.

•  At that same convention, the “Switchbacks” scene, a four-module, 20-foot long scene depicting Colorado mining along the Glenwood Canyon area, captured a first place.

•  Second place went to the wharf scene that featured an operational HO scale freighter, the Yaquinna Bay. This scene included a pair of eight-foot modules that incorporated smaller details such as over 200 in-scale seagulls, along with a sound system portraying wharf noises.

•  Third place went to the farm and country scene, which included three modules (one corner and two eight footers) and depicted an in-depth scale operating farm, including apple orchard, sheep being herded, a cattle feed lot, a field being plowed and a farm pond in a woodland setting that has attracted a host of wildlife.

•  In addition, four scenes from the DG&T have earned a pair of second place awards and a pair of third place awards at NMRA national competitions in Kansas City, MO., and San Jose, CA.

•  The DG&T has earned 13 Great American Train Show first place awards and has made numerous appearances on Denver area television stations as well as appearing in several articles in regional daily newspapers.

•  One of the two ships belonging to the DG&T, the OC&E and the Greeley Freight Station Museum, has earned a first place award at the annual model boat show in St. Louis, MO.
